The carbide drill bits are made from high quality tungsten carbide and are capable of boring holes in virtually all kinds of different materials. Hence they make the toughest bits of the lot. Also they hold the edge longer than any other bits if compared. But good things come at a price and the carbide drill bit is no exception to it.
Due to its high cost and brittleness, it is more frequently used only in smaller pieces screwed or brazed onto the tip of the bit. Low voltage, high temperature brazing prevents the carbide cutting edge from breaking out even when heat builds up during deep drilling.
The carbide bits offer high drilling speeds and cut clean holes in any material. It also helps in the fast removal of drilling dust and is more accurate in its job.
